Finally we have a treatment that can really make a difference with your stretch marks
A stretch mark is a type of scar that develops when our skin stretches or shrinks quickly. The abrupt change causes the collagen and elastin, which support our skin, to rupture. As the skin heals, stretch marks may appear.
Not everyone develops these narrow bands on their skin. Fluctuating hormone levels seem to play a role. You may also have a higher risk if people in your family get stretch marks.
Fraxel, fractional laser resurfacing, stimulates new collagen to thicken the thin stretch marks and renews surface skin to improve color and texture. Treatments generally take 30 to 60 minutes and can be performed on any area of the body and virtually any skin type. Three to five treatments yield nice results. There is a few days of redness and puffiness that quickly resolves. Results improve for weeks and months.
Most stretch marks, especially post pregnancy, are associated with skin laxity. When this is the case we combine Fraxel with Thermage to not only improve the thickness and texture of the skin but also to tighten up the loose skin. The combination treatment involves a single Thermage treatment and three to five Fraxel treatments. Treatment is easy and with little downtime, the added benefits can be great!
Microneedling is a treatment that creates controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to aid in skin rejuvenation an treat stretch marks.
