New Year, New You- What Does This Mean for You?

By adminW
December 28, 2018

Now that the holidays are over, we can all take a deep breath and turn our attention towards ourselves and consider what we want or hope for ourselves in the New Year.  We all wear many hats.  For me that includes managing my professional responsibilities as well as juggling the schedule of a busy family, playing the soccer mom and more recently, dabbling as an amateur blogger.  For many of us the start of a New Year typically brings to mind setting fitness or weight loss goals, but how many of us consider what actions or steps we can take to prevent premature aging or consider treatments that could save us time and money over the long term?

Let’s start with sunscreen.  I’m sure many of you are rolling your eyes right now.  I don’t mean to sound like a nagging mom (although admittedly, I kind of am one), but sun exposure is the #1 cause of premature aging, and when you live in Arizona, let’s face it,  you get a ton of sun exposure, whether you want to or not.  Take a look at these 2 photos.  These were taken with a special camera that we utilize in the office to show us sun damage that can’t always been seen with the naked eye.  Both of these patients are 27 years old.

The patient on the left spent most of her life in Alaska, while the patient on the right was born and raised here in Arizona.  The dark spots and discoloration demonstrate areas of most sun damage.  Can you guess which one is from Arizona?  If you guessed the patient on the right, you are correct.  Now do you believe me when I stress the importance of sunscreen?  If you think your skin might look at lot like the patient on the right, you’re not alone.  We can help you reverse a lot of that damage and set you on a path toward more youthful, glowing skin.  Treatments like laser skin resurfacing and chemical peels can have a dramatic effect and combining that with medical grade skincare products and Botox type treatments can help keep wrinkles away for years to come.

For those of you looking to save time and money this year, we have a couple options that I think you will like.  The first is Laser Hair Removal.  Think about how much time you could shave off (pun intended) of your daily grooming ritual if you didn’t have to shave every day.  Enough said, right?  Or how many of you are bothered by underarm sweat and odor?  Or worse, spending loads of money every week in dry cleaning costs to deal with all those yellow stains and smelly shirts?  We offer an in-office treatment that offers a long lasting solution, called miraDry®.  I had the treatment myself, and I can honestly say that it is one of my favorite offerings here at the office and has simplified my life in many ways.

So, for 2019 I encourage you to think about these suggestions and possibly adding some of them to your list of resolutions for the New Year.  Our team is ready for a great year and excited to get started.  The best is yet to come!
